Saxophonist Jeff Ponders II has captivated audiences for over 20 years with his provocative and soulful music. A Detroit native, Jeff honed his skills under the guidance of jazz legends Donald Walden, Marcus Belgrave, and Wendell Harrison. His career encompasses performances and recordings with a diverse array of artists, including James Carter, Robert Glasper, Boyz II Men, Mike Phillips, Keyshia Cole, BeBe Winans, Adam Hawley, Julian Vaughn, and Eric Roberson. He also toured as a member of the Marvin Gaye Orchestra for the acclaimed musical “My Brother Marvin.” Jeff’s original discography features his debut album, Spark (2018), and his forthcoming project Better, both showcasing original compositions that traverse funk, fusion, swing, soul, and Caribbean rhythms. These albums include collaborations with Grammy-nominated talents like Eric Roberson, Brandon Williams, Demetrius “Krayon” Nabors, Shedrick Mitchell, Nate Winn, Damon Warmack, and Gerard Gibbs. Beyond his musical prowess, Jeff is a celebrated polymath.
