DESCRIPTION:Michael Zaporski creates astonishing music that merges American jazz traditions with a West-African-influenced rhythmic dialogue. Serving as the pianist for the late Detroit saxophonist Sam Sanders\, Zaporski traveled to West Africa\, playing and teaching jazz through the U.S. State Department. \nThis long-time association lead to performances with such renowned jazz artists as Jackie McLean\, Frank Foster\, Art Blakey\, Pharaoh Sanders\, and Donald Byrd. Whether fronting his own group or playing with the Planet D. Nonet\, Zaporski imbues every original composition and jazz-standard with a wealth of sophistication gained through these experiences. \nThrough his own group\, FutureVisions\, Zaporski has garnered headlining performances at jazz festivals and colleges\, and has released several recordings– including one for orchestra\, chorus\, and jazz quartet–to critical acclaim. His musical development was strongly influenced by his father\, Robert Lee Andrews. \nAli grew up listening to all types of music: Gospel\, Classical\, Jazz\, R&B\, and Rock. He developed a special love for Traditional Jazz and Jazz Fusion. He has been influenced by Jazz greats such as Harold McKinney\, Marcus Belgrave\, Donald Walden\, and Herbert Nicholson. This gave Ali the fundamental tools preparing him for the Entertainment Industry. \nAs an accomplished bassist\, arranger and composer\, Ali is currently working on an up and coming self- titled debut project to be released this summer. Ali’s future plans include staying in the Entertainment Industry and becoming a creative and influential artist.
