Lowe spent 2 years at the illustrious Michigan State University under the direction of Rodney Whitaker where he gained new knowledge that expanded his communication and palette with the history of music. Trunino now serves as a bandleader\, sideman\, composer\, and mentor. Mentored by Detroit Trumpeters Kris Johnson\, Dwight Adams\, Rayse Biggs\, and John Douglas. He’s a part of the jazz lineage of Detroit and strongly believes in continuing the Legacy. \nTrunino has performed with some of the finest musicians the world has to offer. He’s played with the likes of Marion Hayden\, Wendell Harrison\, Marcus Elliot\, Rodney Whitaker\, Ralphe Armstrong\, Kris Johnson\, Karriem Riggins\, Endea Owens\, Russell Hall\, Sean Jones\, Stefon Harris\, Carl Allen\, Charles Tolliver\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, Terri Lynn Carrington\, Jazzmeia Horn\, Willerm Delisfort\, & others. Lowe was a 2017 Ravinia Steins Jazz Fellow. Geri Allen Fellow through the Carr Center from 2017-2019. A JAS Academy student in 2021. A member of the Gathering Orchestra led by Rodney Whitaker. DESCRIPTION:Damon Terrell is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a unique funk-Latin sound.  He composed two albums\, “In my life” and “Transformation.”  One which received a stellar award nomination for “Best inspirational Jazz album” and a great review from the “New York times.” His music reaches across the globe\, from the United States\, to France\, to Guam.  He has also opened for well-known R&B group Bell Biv DeVoe. When performing on stage Damon Terrell has a smooth but energetic style that inspires the audience to feel and enjoy the same passion and excitement he feels.

Bey\, as well as gospel and praise in several churches.) The Crew includes James Hughes\, saxes; Zen Zadravec\, piano; Jaribu Shahid\, bass; and Renell Gonsalves\, drums. In their February shows\, the Ron English Crew will offer fresh takes on some jazz standards\, further develop Ron’s originals from his recordings (especially Dance/Cry/Dance)\, and premiere new compositions the crew is developing for future recording releases. \n

He began his musical training in classical Piano at the age of nine. Although he took to this musical style fairly quickly\, his interest in performing Jazz never waned. In the summer of 1981\, while recovering at home from corrective leg surgery\, Gerard received a surprise visit from “Groove” Holmes. Holmes took an immediate interest in Gerard and began to show him all the “tricks of the trade”. Until Holmes’ death in 1991\, Gerard had the kind of friendship and mentoring relationship with this international jazz organist that others can only dream about. \nIn 1996\, Gerard was again fortunate. He met another jazz organist\, Jimmy Smith. He was introduced to Smith while attending his concert at the Bluebird Inn in Detroit. Smith took a liking to Gerard as well\, and began to show his some of his techniques. Since that time Gerard’s friendship with Jimmy Smith has proven to be of great value. Gerard also has had opportunities to rub shoulders with jazz organists Joey DeFrancesco\, Jimmy McGriff\, and the late Jack McDuff. In September of 1999\, Gerard had the opportunity to jam with the “Mighty Burner”\, the late Charles Earland. All of these encounters have contributed to Gerard’s development as a versatile musical artist skilled beyond his years. \nCurrently\, Gerard performs nationally on the concert circuit with saxmen Marion Meadows\, Ronnie Laws and James Carter. He also lends his talents to the hot contemporary jazz group: Pieces Of a Dream. While at home in Detroit\, Gibbs remains busy as he works as an Architectural Engineer for the City of Detroit by day and leads two jazz bands at night and on weekends. He plays keyboards in his contemporary jazz group\, RYZ (pronounced “Rise”) and organ for Gerard Gibbs & ORGANized Crime. Gerard recently completed his debut CD with his organ trio in commemoration to his first mentor\, the late Richard “Groove” Holmes.
