The Ron English Crew returns to the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe on April 25, 26, and 27. Guitarist and composer Ron English has been a vital part of Detroit’s creative music community through several decades, and his all-star Crew (formerly “the Tuesday Crew”) has been a Dirty Dog favorite since before the pandemic. Ron’s way of making music has been shaped by his broad experience in Jazz, Broadway, gospel, and Motown. The music he always strives to make is whatever moves the body, engages the mind, mirrors the emotions, and stirs the spirit.
Ron is joined in the multi-generational Crew by drummer Renell Gonsalves, bassists Jaribu Shahid (Thursday and Saturday) and Jeff Pedraz (Friday), Saxophonist James Hughes, and pianist and composer/arranger Buddy Budson. For their April 25-27 shows, The Ron English Crew will play some of their Dirty Dog audience‘s favorites, and will premiere some brand-new compositions, too.
